Bittersweet

1. Like a crown (Marta Hugon/Filipe Melo)

They are born as a wish

growing into your head

You fear them, you want them

But don’t really care

Cause your free and your reckless

the future looks clear

Some love and some madness

Will make them appear

And at first when it happens

You’re happy you´re sad

There will be some change

and it won’t feel so bad

Your whole memory fades

but the music is new

some days you’re afraid

it’s too good to be true

b) And when they finally get here

they will turn life up side down

You will hold them both so near

Wear them in your heart like a crown (tirar uma sílaba)

They will keep you from sleeping

It hurts when they cry

You love them so much

That for them you could die

You will miss all the days

When you could go away

But now when you can leave

You just want to stay

2. Alright (Marta Hugon/Filipe Melo)

Woke up this morning and I’m feeling kind of sad

Can´t pay my bills and I’m way over my head

lost my job and I I don’t know how much I’ve spent

the sun is shinning but the sun can’t pay the rent

I’ts alright

it’s all just fine

It’s alright

You’re mine

If different choices might come up along the line

I’ll take the high road it’s not late to change my mind

My stomach aches, my mouth is dry, my head is drained

I might be shaken but sometimes fate calls for change

And change is fine with me

I’ts alright

it’s all just fine

It’s alright

You’re mine

I’ts alright

it’s all just fine

It’s alright

You’re mine

Today seems hopeless and tomorrow sounds so far

The cup looks empty so I’d better raise the bar

No one will tell me what to do or where to be

I won´t wait long cause some decisions set you free

and birds will fly with me

I’ts alright

it’s all just fine

It’s alright

You’re mine

I’ts alright

it’s all just fine

It’s alright

You’re mine

3. Hate Song (Marta Hugon/Filipe Melo)

I’ve got some little things I want to share with you
It’s not an option so you’ll have to hear my point of view
I’m not proud of it
but it’s growing strong
You’re not gonna like
this song

This won´t be easy but I think you ought to know,
I´ve packed my suitcase and decided that it’s time to go
Cause all your stories felt so sad and blue
they made me realize
We’re through

The things I hate about you drive me mad
your silly hair and your smile just make me sad
I guess I´ll go on without you I´m so glad
So good to sleep without you in my bed.

At first I thought we had it all to get along
It felt so right to me but now I know it’s just plain wrong
You’re so full of it and you’re boring too
I just had enough
of you (but I still want to tell you)

The things I hate about you drive me mad
your silly hair and your smile just make me sad
I guess I´ll go on without you I´m so glad
So good to sleep without you in my bed.

The things I hate about you drive me mad
your silly hair and your smile just make me sad
I guess I´ll go on without you I´m so glad
So good to sleep without you in my bed.

4. Lullaby (Marta Hugon/Filipe Melo)

Black is the night

Ghosts and demons and lullabies

Come, hold her tight

kiss her gently and close your eyes

Mother earth is breathing hard

watching over you

Let her lay her weary head

You’ll see it through

Wars, dreams and lies

Will unfold while she sighs, might reveal as she cries

Fall asleep and she’ll set you free

Mother earth is breathing hard

watching over you

Let her lay her weary head

You’ll see it through

Black is the night

Ghosts and demons and lullabies

5. People Come and Go (Marta Hugon/Filipe Melo)

People come and people go

Rushing all the time

Trying to fill their empty hearts

And empty minds

But oh how they glow

Oh how they shine

People come and people go

We’re left behind

Smilling faces everywhere

Trying not to see

I wonder if they really care

About you and me

But oh how they glow

Oh how they shine

People come and people go

We’re left behind

6. Insane (featuring Samuel Úria) (Marta Hugon/Filipe Melo)

There’s this funny guy I know

He’s the joke I can’t let go

and he plays inside of my head this same old tune

It goes on without a rhyme

It’s off key but it sounds fine

And it brings the innocent child within me

Close to him

His foolish grin

Is making me go

Insane without him

There’s this funny girl I know

She’s the starlet on my show

And she jokes about my odd looks and winsome smile

She pretends she doesn’t care

Flirts around as if I’m not there

But inside she knows

She is lost without my

new hit song

she’ll sing along

I’m making her go

Insane without me

(solo sopros)

(alternadamente)

He’s the one I’d like to see

Clearly she’s my cup of tea

He’s too strong headed to give up his side of town

She insists on playing cool

But instead he’s just the fool

I don´t care about the details, she’s right for me

I keep pushing him aside

She will call me every night

I told all my friends I can’t sleep when he’s around

She’s got temper she’s got style

He hides something in his smile

I’d like to turn her up turned nose up side down

(uníssono)

But inside I know

I can´t let it show

It’s making me go

Insane without it

7. Come back home (Marta Hugon/Filipe Melo)

I’ve  been up, I’ve been down

But only for you did I see the light somehow

I don’t have to worry

About leaving the past behind

Cause it is too late to make you change your mind

I’ve been lost, I’ve been found

But you made me feel I had my feet back on the ground

Now days go by slowly

And I take them as they come

It really fells like you were the one

 Refrão

The best times I’ve known I spent them with you

The best times I’ve known are broken in two

You left me one morning, now I’m all alone

So please come – back – home

I forgot how to pray

And eating and sleeping don´t come around this way

I’m old as a rag

And I’d rather drink instead

It will wash all my dreams away

Now I look at myself

the face in the mirror is like an old book on the shelf

you wrote the last chapter and it says this is the end

and that’s something I cannot mend

 Refrão

The best times I’ve known I spent them with you

The best times I’ve known are broken in two

You left me one morning now I’m all alone

So please come back home (repeat)

8. Orpheus (David Sylvian)

9. Silly Little Song (Marta Hugon/Filipe Melo)

Isn´t love a funny game

Win or loose, you’re not to blame

Expectations keep them low

I’m in love, you’ve got to go

Isn’t love deceit and lies

a bitter tasting, big surprise

when I gave you all my heart

did you say we were to part?

I will make you smile at last

with my silly little song

but there’s tears in every word

that my pride won’t let me show

Maybe one day you’ll come back

filled with richness and respect

maybe then we’ll settle down

build a house outside this town

I will try to make you see

Happiness is up to you

You don’t have to go that far

To make every dream come true

Until that day my heart will bleed

knowing I’m the one you need

Only time will show you how

Happiness is here and now

happiness is here and now

10. Not to blame (Marta Hugon/Filipe Melo)

She tells me I’m not to blame

I look at her and feel her pain

It won’t go away

She hides a quiet smile from me

But in her eyes I see the fear

It’s here to stay

She won’t know

I’ll be lost without her for some years

But she’ll be there beside me

I can´t help her

I don’t want to talk about it

I can´t help her

So I’m running right after life

Daylight falls upon my head

Eyes wide open, feeling bad

(it) won’t go away

Turn the TV on again

Read some book and understand

Her time has come

She won’t know

I’ll be lost without her for some years

But she’ll be there beside me

I can´t help her

I don’t want to talk about it

I can´t help her

So I’m running right after life

11. Downnhome Blues (Marta Hugon/Filipe Melo)

There’s little time for big regrets and the world is changing swift and cold but god knows we’re all too scared of getting old

The news are crying some downhome blues and no one gets to be excused when evil comes around to pay respects

For I know a man who once took a stand and I can say he was bound to have a plan that didn’t work so he had to face the ugly truth

He found out that growing up meant growing sad so he made the choice to leave instead and now I’m facing all these questions here and now

We’re running round in circles, we’re all haunted by the same old song but this man looked so much better on his own

We read and write, we try a lot, we travel and avoid the clock but time is ticking harder everyday

Cause I can´t make his face just go away and some day, who knows, he will come my away and then I’ll have to write about him too.

But now my heart is crying out with pain and although I know I won’t play his game I’ll keep singing to myself these downhome blues

(repeat)

Cause I can´t make his face just go away and some day, who knows, he will come my away and then I’ll have to write about his choice.

But now my heart is crying out with pain and although I know I won’t play his game I’ll keep singing to myself these downhome blues
